Getting around

aleksoto_tiltas.jpg

On foot: Walking is the most exciting way to discover Kaunas. Walking around you can explore the city, to see the beauty of the architecture and feel the rhythm of city life. It is a good idea to walk down the Avenue of Freedom from the old St. Michael the Archangel’s church up to City Hall in order to get a closer look at the grandest historical and architectural monuments, churches and the impressive Old Town.

Taxi: It is very easy and convenient to take a taxi from the street or at taxi ranks spread across the city. You will always find one next to the airport, bus or railway stations. Or you can order a taxi from one of the many local companies operating in town.

Public Transport: There are lots of trolley buses and ordinary buses operating in Kaunas. There are plenty of stops, and prices are reasonable. Besides those, Kaunas also has a large fleet of private minibuses. Stop one anywhere in the street, jump in and ask to be dropped off wherever you need to be along the route of minibus.
