Vilnius Airport
Vilnius International Airport (airport code VNO), the largest in
Lithuania, is located to the south of Vilnius on a plateau. Vilnius airport is just 7 km, or 15 minutes by car to the centre.
The easiest way to reach your
Vilnius hotel or other destinations is to take a taxi or hire a car. There are several car rental offices located on the 1st floor of the airport. Be sure to get a proper
Vilnius map, as the city is a bit of a maze.
To implement needs of modern travelers, the Vilnius International Airport is equipped with:
- A shopping centre
- Business Club
- Car hire and insurance services
Assistance on travel, transportation, accommodation, sight-seeing, car rental and Vilnius maps can be found at the tourist information point.
There are plans to extend Vilnius airport with a new terminal that will not only meet the Schengen requirements, but will also increase the passenger capacity of the airport to 3 million flights a year.
There are expansion issues, related to the main building of the Vilnius airport: dating from the 50s, it is actually an architecturally important monument and so some “visual” renovations are simply not allowed.
Other Baltic Airports:
Riga Airport,
Tallinn Airport.
